I remember the earliest I heard about it was 20years ago when I was watching F.R.I.E.N.D.S in which Rachel shows it off to her friends as a gift by Barry, her ex-fiance, whom she left at the altar as shown in pilot episode of the series.
It didn’t catch my attention then as much but I certainly remember that as my first time ever hearing about it. Those were my early teenage years and I wasn’t wearing perfumes yet. Over the years, as I developed my taste in perfumes, I leaned more towards fruity and floral as described in the following wheel.
As a young adult, when I heard of Coco Chanel, I was inspired and fascinated. Like many women, I added Classic Chanel flap bag to the wishlist of things I wanted to own in future. N°5 was still not something I considered buying as I heard it has woody undertones and I understood very early on that I am not a big fan of woody notes. Call it curiousity or an itch to try things iconic,
Out of FOMO, I gave in and got it finally! My first reaction when I wore it for the first time was, “What! Really?!” I was disappointed to say the least. I didn’t give up. I wanted to understand what is so iconic about it and so I tried wearing it the next day and the next day and you know what, I am in love with it after the fourth time! If I were to describe it in a picture, it feels like this
It’s elegant and warm at the same time. So, after 100 years of it coming into existence is when I bought it and I wouldn’t be surprised if I continue to use it till end of time and Yes, I do wear it to bed like Marilyn used to as it’s just so good, you want it to be around you all day and in bed as well!!
